You opened step 4: Decide how it behaves

What you can do

Keep exactly the information your team needs

Add a field to every contact, choose what it accepts and who can see it. It also goes into the import template. In 5 steps.

  • Text, number, date or a list
  • Required or optional
  • In the chat panel, if you want
  • Who can see and change it

Steps

  1. Step 1 of 5

    Open Create attribute

Your own fields live on the Contact Attributes tab.

An attribute is a piece of information Bridge keeps about each contact. First name, last name, phone and email come predefined; the rest are your own, such as Company, Segment or City. In Contacts, open the Contact Attributes tab and select Create attribute.

    • Contacts › Contact Attributes › Create attribute
    • Predefined: first name, last name, phone, email

Watch step 1 on the screen

  2. Step 2 of 5

Name it and choose its kind

The kind decides what can be entered.

Write the name your team uses, such as Customer type. Then choose the kind of information: Text, Number, Date, Select (one option from a list you define) or Multi select (several options from that list). The kind decides what can be entered. Phone and email already come with Bridge, so they are not offered here.

    • Use the name your team already uses
    • Text, Number, Date, Select or Multi select

  3. Step 3 of 5

    Set what it accepts

Each kind has its own settings; a list needs its options.

The settings follow the kind. Text: Short (up to 100 characters), Medium (200) or Long (300). Number: the fewest and most digits. Date: nothing to set. Select and Multi select: add the options one by one, or paste a list copied from a spreadsheet; Bridge removes surrounding spaces and ignores values already on the list. Order them with the arrows or Sort A to Z. Below the list you see what your team will see.

    • Text: Short, Medium or Long
    • Number: fewest and most digits
    • Select: type the options or paste a list

Watch step 3 on the screen

  4. Step 4 of 5

    Decide how it behaves

Whether it is required, and whether it shows in each chat.

Mark Required when creating or editing a contact if a contact cannot be saved without it, whether created by hand or by import; existing contacts are unaffected. Show it in the chat panel puts it at the top of every conversation in Bridge, with an icon. The panel shows up to three attributes; if it already has three, remove one in the Chat panel card first.

    • Required: no contact is saved without it
    • Chat panel: up to three attributes

  5. Step 5 of 5

Choose who sees it, then create it

Who can see and change it, then create it.

For Bridge users, AI agents and the contacts themselves, choose No access, View or Edit. By default your team can edit it, AI agents can view it and contacts cannot see it. Select Create attribute: from then on it is on every contact and in the import template. You can map it to a field of your CRM afterwards.

    • No access, View or Edit, for each audience
    • Default: your team edits, AI agents view
    • Then it is on every contact and in the import
