What you can do

Set the languages your company uses with customers, and which one is the default.

In Languages, the first step of the setup guide, you choose the languages your company uses with its customers and the default one: the language your users see in Bridge and the one new contacts are created with. Learn how in 7 steps.

  • The languages you use with customers
  • The default language
  • Templates in every language
  • A step of the setup guide

Steps

  1. Step 1 of 7

    Open Languages

Languages is the first step of the setup guide.

On My Bridge, find the setup guide. Languages is the first step of the Company setup section. Click Open: unlike the other steps, Languages does not open a new window but a side panel on the same page, because it has no page of its own.

    • My Bridge › Company setup › Languages
    • Click Open
    • A side panel opens, without leaving My Bridge

  2. Step 2 of 7

    Review how languages are used

The panel’s notice sums up how Bridge uses each language.

The Languages panel starts with a notice that explains how Bridge uses your company’s languages. The default language is the one your users see in Bridge. When templates are used, it is also the first language used with the customer, and new contacts are created with it. Each additional language you add automatically gets its own version of every template.

    • Default: the language your users see in Bridge
    • With templates, the first one used with the customer
    • New contacts are created with it

  3. Step 3 of 7

    Add the languages

Add each language your company uses with its customers.

Under Languages used with customers, open the Add a language list. You can type to search; the list shows only the languages you have not added yet. When you choose one, it is added at once. The first language you add becomes the default. Repeat for each language your company uses with its customers.

    • Choose in Add a language; you can search
    • It is added to the list at once
    • Each additional language gets its templates automatically

  4. Step 4 of 7

    Choose the default language

One of your languages is the default.

Each language in the list has the Default option. Select it for the language your users see in Bridge and that new contacts are created with. There can be only one default language; when you select another, the previous one stops being the default.

    • Select Default on its row
    • Only one language is the default
    • The first one you add starts as the default

  5. Step 5 of 7

    Remove a language

Remove from the list a language you do not need.

To remove a language, use the trash icon on its row. The default language cannot be removed: its button is disabled and, when you hover over it, it says “Choose another default language first”. To remove it, first make another language the default.

    • Use the trash icon on its row
    • The default language cannot be removed
    • Make another one the default first

  6. Step 6 of 7

    Save the languages

Save to apply the languages to your company.

Click Save. The button is enabled when there is at least one language in the list. When you save, the panel closes, the “Languages saved” notice shows the default language, and the Languages step is marked as done in the setup guide. Cancel closes the panel without saving the changes. If you open Languages again, you see the saved list.

    • Save is enabled with at least one language
    • The Languages step is marked as done
    • Cancel closes without saving

  7. Step 7 of 7

    Continue with the setup

Languages is done and the guide takes you to the next step.

After you save, Languages shows as done in the setup guide and the progress adds one step. The guide highlights the next pending step so you can continue. You can open Languages again at any time to review the saved languages.

    • Languages shows as done
    • Progress adds a step: 4 of 9
    • The next step is highlighted
