Each person sees the contacts they should

Decide who can create contacts, and whether each person sees their own contacts, their team’s or all of them. In 4 steps.

## What you can do

- Everyone creates, or only managers
- Own, team or all contacts
- Applies when you save
- Conversations stay as they are

## Steps

### Step 1 · Open Settings

Both settings are on the Settings tab of Contacts.

In Contacts, open the Settings tab. It has two parts: who can create contacts, and which contacts each person in the workspace sees.

- Contacts › Settings
- Who creates, and who sees what

### Step 2 · Choose who creates contacts

Everyone, or only authorized managers.

Contacts can always be created in Bridge; this decides who can. With Let anyone create contacts on, every person in the workspace can add a contact, from the directory or from a conversation they are answering. With it off, only managers with permission to create contacts can add one; everyone else keeps working with the contacts they already see.

- On: anyone can add a contact
- Off: only managers with permission

### Step 3 · Choose which contacts each person sees

What each person sees by default.

Turn on Restrict contact access and choose what each person sees by default: Own contacts only (the contacts assigned to them), Team contacts (those of every member of their teams) or All contacts. A person granted wider access elsewhere keeps it. With access not restricted, everyone sees every contact.

- Own, team or all contacts
- Wider access granted elsewhere is kept
- Not restricted: everyone sees everything

### Step 4 · Save the changes

Nothing applies until you save.

Unsaved changes shows while you edit. Select Save changes to apply them, or Discard to go back. Contact access and conversation access are separate: saving never changes who can open a conversation. Each contact is assigned with its Owner, when it is created or imported.

- Save changes or Discard
- Conversation access does not change
- Contacts are assigned with their Owner
